Fog Mirror's real fog: a fingertip writes hi and a heart, warm light shows through, then a breath fogs it back. Drawn light stands in for the camera here. On your Mac, it's you behind the glass.

It fogs like the real thing.

Nothing to set up and nothing to learn. Open it, and the glass is already steaming up.

Breathe
Give the glass a soft “haaa”. The camera sees your mouth open and still, the microphone hears the air, and fog gathers just below your mouth and grows while you breathe. Or hold Space.
Wipe
Drag across the glass and it wipes clean under a soft, feathered edge. Leave it alone and the fog slowly creeps back.
Write
Hold ⌥ and drag to write with a fingertip: a heart, a name, a note for whoever's next.
Fog up
Press Fog up and steam rises from the bottom until the whole mirror is milky again.
Keep it
⌘S saves a picture and ⌘R records a clip of up to ten seconds, ready to post. Each carries a small “Fog Mirror · mactoro.com” mark, which you can turn off.
Tune it
Settings has the brush thickness, how fast the fog returns, how easily a breath counts, and how much fog each breath leaves, with a small practice glass that shows every change as you make it.
Hello
Each time it opens, a fingertip writes a little m in the fog before the glass steams over.

It stays on your Mac.

Your camera is a private thing. Fog Mirror treats it that way.

  • No accountOpen it and start wiping. There's nothing to sign up for.
  • No networkFog Mirror never connects to the internet. The camera and microphone stay on this Mac.
  • Nothing keptNothing is recorded unless you save it. The camera stops when the window is hidden or minimized.
Fog Mirror's installer window: warm milky glass with a glowing breath in the middle, a coral arrow traced through it, and the line “Drag Fog Mirror to Applications”.

Free, and ready in a minute.

Download it, open the file, and drag Fog Mirror to Applications. The first time it opens, macOS asks to use the camera. The microphone is optional: without it, hold Space to fog the glass.

Pictures and clips you save go to Fog Mirror in your Pictures folder.
